10.03.08 We May Have Over-Affirmed Her

Penelope, age three, stood in the hallway greeting strangers while her mommy talked to big brother’s teacher and then big sister’s.

Then mommy turned her attention at last to Penelope, whose bottom lip was pushed out in a pout.  “What’s wrong?” mommy asked.

“Some people say I’m cute.  And some people can’t see me.”

That’s when we learned there are only two kinds of people in the world, according to Penelope: Those who think she’s cute.  And those who just haven’t met her yet.

Great story Shaun.  Bethany, my 2 year old (youngest of 3 girls) last night told me and my 4 year old daughter Cassandra that “we are both cute”.  I assumed she meant herself and her sister, to which her sister clarified “Daddy you and Bethany are cute and I’m cute when I crinkle my nose”.  So watch out she may add conditions to her cuteness by the time she’s 4.  It’s great to know they still think I’m cute.  Nothing better than doting daughters for a Daddy LOL

She’s not been “over-affirmed.”. She’s just being honest and willing to share her knowledge with others.

Ditto Biblefanmaryann.  Adorable and even funny, at three.

I have a niece who’s almost 8 and still thinks that way.  It isn’t so cute on her.
