07.16.08 Singing For My Supper

imageMy name is Shaun and I’m driving five hours today for Christian chicken.

Today, in the city of Carmel, Indiana, a new Chick-fil-A is opening.  And I will be there, guitar in hand, strumming and singing for ninety minutes in exchange for free Chick-fil-A for an entire year.

At the end of that year there will be much wailing and weeping and questioning the meaning of my life.  But I will not dwell on that now.  No.  Now I will drive like a man climbing the stairway of heaven.  And at the top of those stairs is a laminate table full of chicken fried in peanut oil, waffle fries and sweet tea.  And it is free.

See you tonight at 8PM:
Chick-fil-A Westfield
14647 US 31 North
Carmel, IN 46032

Did you tell Bebo about this?  He may never let you live it down as you now can find your “inner-Bebo” everyday for a whole year.  WOW!  You are my hero.

You can’t imagine all the humiliating things that I might be willing to do/perform in trade for your one year’s supply!

Isn’t that like against your religion or something?  I thought you were a raw foodist (or whatever the term is)?  If you don’t eat chicken, then aren’t you working for free?

I can’t even express how much money Chick-fil-A would lose if they offered me a similar deal.

Shaun, please enjoy some Chick-Fil-A for me.  Our family hasn’t been able to enjoy a meal there since we discovered my Son was allergic to peanuts.  (In case you didn’t know, most of the fried dishes are cooked in peanut oil).  Outside of maybe stopping at the one shop near work before I moved, I’ve not been near one of them sense.

Man I could really go for a Deluxe sandwich right now too :/

Bebo would be so proud of how far you have come.

Finally the student has become the teacher.

I hate to think how much weight I’d gain if I had free Chick-Fil-A for a YEAR.

But my real question is, where in Carmel??  I live sorta near there and didn’t know that a new one was opening (and can’t tell from their website).  I’d love to see you sing for chicken.

First, I have to ask if they are making you dress like a cow.  I ask, because a local Chick-fil-A just ran a promo giving a free meal to anyone who dressed like a cow.

Other than that, sweet tea and biscuits!  That’s a deal!

For the record, Chick-fil-A is not chicken.  It is manna.

I’m not a full-on raw foodist, either.  I’m a hypocritster who eats half raw stuff, no red meat, no caffeine (on a good day), fish and a very little bit of manna.

I mostly eat the wraps at Chick-fil-A but my kids can now eat all the nuggets their little hearts desire.

I will try to be there and get up the courage to say hi.

And in case you’ve never tried them, their milkshakes are really delicious.  Just saying, since you’ll have all that free food and all.

I can’t sing to save my life (or play instruments!), but I would so do that!  Mmmm, chicken biscuit breakfast sandwiches…

It’s a good thing that Chick-fil-A is a privately owned company because I’d have to warn everybody to sell their shares by close of trading today because their profits are gonna be going DOWN after this little deal takes place. Tall man can eat much chicken.

Oooooh, you know, if you eat enough, you’ll be able to move into a larger, easier-to-find jeans size. There are many benefits to this…

These are the kind of things that would helpful to find on the TOUR section of this blog.  I’ll try to make it, but more than a few hours notice might be nice… I’m just sayin’…

In an effort to distract myself that we have no joints serving manna up here, I’m wondering how you redeem the free CFA for a year deal. Do they put your photo up at all restaurants? Do you just say, “I’m Shaun Groves; you know what that means” at the drive-thru? Do they put a small tattoo of a chicken on your forehead?
