11.15.06 SCHOOL HOUSE ROCKIN
I think I was more excited than Gresham and Gabriella when we filed into the Nashville Children’s Theatre with a couple hundred other little people this morning. I was about to relive the Saturday mornings of my childhood.
The Schoolhouse Rock Live show was great - bad sound - but great singing, and I learned what an adverb is all over again, not to mention how a bill becomes a law. If you have kids in your house or just want to walk down amnesia lane for an hour or so, I highly recommend the show. Go here for times.
For those who can’t make it, here’s a flashback to the greatest Saturday morning cartoon ever:

I already own the DVD for this classic. Love it, though my 3-year old daughter hasn’t caught on yet.

The day after Thanksgiving would be a good time to go and take the family. The show starts at 2:30 p.m.

That Blind Melon version stays permanently on my iPod. In fact, I just used it as pre-show music for a show I’m producing. That’s frikkin’ beautiful.

Heck yes!
Didi you ever hear Blind Melon’s cover of that. Excellent.

One of my first professional gigs was as “Joe” then “Tom” in the live show on tour. It was a blast. And yes, I think people closer to our age enjoy it even more than kids. I still use the preamble song for mic checks to this day.

Sadly, with the way today’s governement is set up, that poor little bill on capitol hill probably will be sitting on the steps of the of the building for a long, long time.

My now 9th grader can still recite (read: sing) the preamble to the constitution because of that song. We own the dvds and I’m hoping to get the “Leapster” cartridge for our 7 year old for Christmas. I hope she lets me play with it!

Me too. Only my almost six year old is into it though. Gresham (4) just likes when the kid on Interjections gets a shot.
