03.07.08 Rough Weekend Ahead

Sometimes you get North Dakota or a slum in the third world and sometimes you get a condo on the beach in Florida.  I just go where Jesus sends me, you know?  It’s up to the Big Guy.  I try not to argue.

I’m headed out the door - literally in a few seconds - to catch a flight to Florida where I’m speaking at a Spring Break retreat to a bunch of college students.  I’ll have my own little condo thing with Wi-Fi. And I hear there’s a beach and ocean and sand and actual sunshine.

I’ll be getting a lot of “work” done of course and definitely shaping the spiritual lives of many college students.  And I hear there’s a beach and ocean and sand and actual sunshine.

And I’m talking about the beatitudes.

And there’s a beach and ocean and sand and actual sunshine.

Think about that this weekend my friends as you scrape snow from your driveway and shiver your way to church.  I’m serving Jesus at a beach.  With an ocean and sand and actual sunshine.

This’ll be rough. Living like this all weekend.  I mean, knowing you’re, well, not.

Bless your heart.

(They say there’s Wi-Fi in the room where I’m speaking.  If there is, would anyone be interested in my broadcasting it?  If not, I’m not foolin’ with it.)

You poor mistreated thing. Keep suffering for the Lord there Shaun. I wouldn’t mind hearing you speak about the beatitudes...BUT I’ll be home this weekend so don’t bother because our dial-up seriously creates some forceful vacuum.

Yes.  I’d be interested since the “beach” here in ND is closed.
Beth

P.S. Keep comparing ND to third world slums and you may find yourself here more often and without the benefit of coat and warmed up trucks!

Yes, I would definately be interested in seeing if you could broadcast it live.  You could use USTREAM.TV (This is really easy to use and can be used with a VIDEO FEED or just AUDIO._ And the best part..it’s free!  Check it out at http://www.ustream.tv.  Keep us posted if you are going live or not.

Up here in Grand Forks, ND, I woke up to a toasty -21*F this morning. It is supposed to get to a balmy 30*F+ this weekend (or early next week)! Time to break out the shorts and t-shirts!

Suffering for Jesus! Dig your toes in the warm sand on my behalf and pick up a few shells for your kids.

Hope you’re not still suffering from the Sneaky Pete and find yourself well to enjoy that “beach and ocean and sand and actual sunshine”.

BTW, my hubby thought you should really have called it “sneaky re-pete” at this point.

Praying for you.

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Tough weekend!

You spoke some on the beatitudes at GMA. I’m guessing this will be a bit more in depth and I would definitely be interested in seeing it........if it’s not too much trouble.

How does it make you feel that I live 5 minutes from that beach, sand and ocean in sometimes-sunny South Florida?

Shaun - you stand as a beacon to those seeking to serve - a true servant heart who will endure for the cause.  How cool is THIS gig?  Of course Spring Break college kids—Hmmmmmm - Anne Jackson pretty well summed it up (yes I recognize the book she is quoting)

Yeah, I was going to quote scriptures but anne did well enough… as for live broadcast - ummm… you know....

You could go through a lot of effort and get it all set up and then I’d be too busy to log in and you would have missed out on all the beach and teh sand and the ocean and the sunshine....

Nah, just give ‘em the gospel and enjoy the blessings on the way.  We’ll pray for you in your sufferings that they further the kingdom

I’m interested as long as I’m home, can you give us a heads up on the time?  (Cameron’s team made it to Regionals, so I’ll be sitting on bleachers all day, and a win will guarantee I’ll be sitting there into the late evening.)
