08.17.08 Me And Minnesota: Day 2 & 3

Yesterday was our second in Minnesota, and our second consecutive day at the Higher Ground Music Festival talking about Compassion International.  When we left the festival grounds last night 116 kids had been sponsored - but the festival wasn’t over. Mercy Me still had to play the last set of the weekend.  I’m bettin’ a lot more kids got sponsored in the last couple hours of the evening.  I should get a total today sometime.

After packing up our stuff, it was back in the car to drive “an hour max” to Forest Lake, Minnesota where I played a couple songs in two church services this morning and will do a concert tonight.  No, today’s gig is not on the Tour page - added too late to our schedule - but here are the details in case you’re in the area:

WHEN: 7PM

WHERE:
Maranatha Assembly of God
24799 Forest Blvd.
Forest Lake, MN 55025

COST: FREE

Welcome To Minnesota Under Construction SignIt turns out, by the way - a little something they don’t tell you before you arrive - the entire state of Minnesota is under construction. According to the abundant orange signage it will be this way “until Summer 2009.”

Last night, we were constantly detoured onto roads neither Google nor our GPS unit knew existed.  And then detoured from those detours.  And then detoured from the detours from our detours.  There was not a single road leading out of the festival that was not detoured - no exaggeration.  But Ben is a very patient and directionally gifted man.  After two hours, we made it.

Shaun, in Minnesota we have two seasons - winter and road construction.  You don’t want to be here in winter.  Looking forward to seeing you tonight!!!

Sure is!! Hi Nancy!!  Shaun, you were great tonight. Having the folks from Teen Challenge singing Welcome Home with you was emotional for all of us. Praying for all the topics you lead us in at the concert....

Writing about rubber bands today--what do they mean to you? (I’m gonna tell you what they mean to me later on).
