04.25.07 Good But Not Grand

I began the morning earlier than usual, heading out the door a little after 7 to pick up Brody and head to downtown Nashville for my one real day of Gospel Music Week participation this year.  We had grand plans.

I began the day with an old friend, Nancy Tyler, who also moderates the Board here at shaungroves.com.  She has a burgeoning radio program she interviewed me for, but that mostly just an excuse to hang out a little this morning.  Very little.  I had to move on to do some taping with KXOJ out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  We recorded witty banter to be replayed over a three hour period this afternoon.  In fact, as I type, I’m on the air in Tulsa.  Weird.

Then I had a lunch with my future publishing company - book publishing, not music.  I sat down with my agent and Brody and a room full of marketing execs to poke and prod them, and determine whether or not they can market what I write to whoever it is that would be interested in it.  They did a great job answering every question and asking some great ones too.  I was impressed - mostly with the pizza.  Amazing pizza.

All that is good, but not grand.  The grand plan was to video several things Brody and I thought would be hilarious to share with you.  Unfortunately, we needed certain people to be around to make those ideas work and just about everyone had left the convention center in Nashville by lunch today.  Radio guys?  Heading home.  Huge rock stars?  Primping I suppose for the award show tonight.

So you’ll just have to wait to see footage of me arm wrestling the most muscular musicians in the business to the tune of “It’s Raining Men.”

Oh well.

Thanks to Brody for heading downtown with me for no reason as it turned out.  What a friend.

When you mentioned muscular musicians, the first one that came to mind was Boone, the drummer for Decemberadio.  He’s got quite a ‘gun show’ going on.  But it’s not as obvious until you meet him in person.

Absolutely a great guy though.  And from my impression of his personality, a great choice for such a video.

Thanks for stopping by our publishing company, you brought a vibe we much needed.  I was inspired by your thoughts, and I like to be inspired. BTW, I was the web guy that probably resembled Seinfeld.

We need to hit the radio booths on Monday or Tuesday next year.  I was wandering around the same time you were and all the people I was trying to see were gone too.

Thanks again for coming in so early today, you guys.  Good hang time.  Good radio too!

It’s good to be an old friend.  To be a friend who is old, not so much.  LOL

You’re not giggling, are you?  Because you know that leads to me giggling, picturing you giggling, then Shaun would have to chime in with a guffaw, you know, since men don’t giggle… LOL

I am the “friend who is old” Christy, not Nancy!

Aw Beth, I think the three of us are pretty much in the same boat...we’re all older than Shaun.  I was only teasing Nancy, none of us are really old at all!
