03.12.08 A Choosy Beggar Needs Your Help
I do full shows and speaking gigs for free if I can talk about Compassion International for a few minutes. All a promoter has to pay for is a meal and a hotel room. That’s it.
We’ve got a problem I need your help with though: We had some gigs in April just cancel on us - with very good reasons. But that’s all but emptied April’s calendar. While I love the idea of time off, I hate the idea of not helping any kids in April. That can’t happen! So, here’s where you come in. It’s the last minute and a lot to ask but can you please spread the word about these free events (concerts or speaking engagements) and help us fill April up. I’m beggin’ you. Seriously. April will be empty without some serious help fast. That’s a lots of kids that won’t be sponsored.
And I’m gonna be a bit choosy now. Only because I know what benefits Compassion’s kids most and that’s what this is about. Certain venues and audiences make better listening and sponsoring environments.
THE NO LIST:
NO youth only gigs. NO outdoor gigs.
THE YES LIST:
YES, I speak at church services and can do music too. YES, I’ll do church concerts for all ages. YES, I love me some college students, especially chapel services and being part of regular meetings on or near campus (eg. Intervarsity, Reformed University Fellowship, Campus Crusade, a college bible study, etc).

HOW AWESOME! I have forwarded the information to our Youth Minister and will also be sending it to our College minister and was curious if you could do a concert/compassion promo with a public school? After Hours of course to make sure parents are there??

GREAT poster - and bless you Shaw-awn - you are a good man of God. Our church is not receptive but I’m positive you’ll get better venues with more potential for response. Hope it’ll be DFW area so we can come heckle I mean cheer for you and testify to the joy of Compassion sponsorship
