Here it is, a long over due Thank you!

Last summer I wanted to do something for my daughter.  I happened to turn the Radio on and heard about your concert in Lincoln. So my wife, daughter and I set out for Lincoln.

I was not sure what to expect, however I was greatly impressed as well as entertained.  I have never heard so much music come from a guitar before.  I loved your show as well as did the rest of my family.

Started reading your Shlog a few days after, your words challenge an old conservative like mesmile

Well it says I can post some questions.

1) Always wondered, do you sing your songs in concert in the same key as on your recordings?

2) Have you ever written a song where someone gave you the topic or verse and asked you to come up with something?

Once again, Thanks

First, thank you for all the kindness.  And for taking the time to type it here.  Glad you liked the show.

1) I don’t.  I play Your Renown, for instance, in D but it was recorded in E flat.  I also have a lot of throat problems made worse by allergies so if it’s a bad night I’ll lower a couple songs - like White Flag - to get a better tone and have an easier time of it.

2)Yea.  I wrote a lot of my first record that way in fact.  My pastor and I would talk about songs that fit upcoming teachings of his and if we couldn’t find an already existing tune to use I’d try to write one.  That’s where Damage Done and Welcome Home came from.  I wrote Abba Father this way too, starting when I was teaching orphans at a Childrens Home in Waco and finishing when I lead worship for a women’s conference on understanding God as Father.

Good questions.  Thanks for asking.
