thought it was about time lois started a thread. lol.
so what are you doing right now?
i am reading for health and in a few minutes i’ll go study my little heart out (cant say brain… i cant find it - if anyone sees my brain, please let me know and tell it to come home! ) for my new testament history test tomorrow… then i will collapse into bed, hardly make it thru devos and fall immediately asleep, to be woken up probably between 4-6 hrs later (depending on when i finally get to bed) so that i can go to crown (college) and take my n.t.h. test and go to health class and continue my LONG day…
Well, I’m definitely not as busy as you are tonight. I’m getting ready to go wake my hubby, who fell asleep in front of the TV, so we can go to bed. Just thought I’d check in here real quick before heading that way. Get some rest Lois. And don’t try to drink any coffee!
I just got home from work and taking some “cave” time to catch up and wind down before going to bed. I’ve got to get the “fairy money” under the pillow of my youngest to celebrate the loss of yet another tooth (man, she’s growin’ up fast!) I was in the office at 8:30 this morning, prepared IMALs (Instant Money Advance Loans; a new product for H&R Block this year), updated computers, caught up on the mail, etc. When I finished there at 5:30, I stopped by UPS to drop off a package and then headed to the other office to teach a tax class from 6-9 PM. My district manager was observing this evening and things went well. Tomorrow, I’m going in early to clean the office as there’s TONS of boxes all over due to the high volume of supplies coming in right now. Afterward, all us Office Managers have a meeting with the district manager and then I can teach again from 6-9. Hopefully, I’ll get to come home for a bit in between tomorrow to at least get dinner on the table since my hubby just found out today that he starts the swing shift tomorrow. “Two ships passing in the night” is our theme song for this month!
It’s not quite 6am. I’ve been up since 5 and I have the day off. I am planning a one-day Christmas gift buying blitz, between online purchases and hitting the mall. Today’s it. If I don’t get it today, I’m not getting it.
I’m dreading going to the dentist in about oh and hour and a half. Dentists scare me. I don’t like the dentist. No one should have that much power over my mouth except me. You can chop off my fingers, pull my ear off, I can take the pain just don’t touch my mouth. It’s the only part of my body that seems to not beable to take pain at all period.
I just got up a few minutes ago. I have the house to myself for a while since the kids are at school, my dad’s at work, and my mom went to Roanoke to go shopping. I would’ve gone with her because I still need to get some Christmas shopping done, but I have a 10 page paper due tomorrow and I only have about 3.5 pages, lol. So I’ll get working on that in a little while, after checking email and Facebook and Livejournal. Yep.
I think I’m feeling better too *knock on wood* I’m not coughing every two seconds, nor is my nose as runny. Yay!
i got out of school then i went to meet this girl whose doing a community spotlight on me for her college class then i came home ate a little snack and now preparing to read and take notes on 150 glorious pages of the IShmael for my ap english class.yea its a book about a gorilla who can communicate with his brain and is trying to teach a guy about how humans can make the wourld bettter....lots of fun..

I am trying to figure out why teachers feel the need to give out so much home work. Just think of it. If you are in high school and you have six classes, and if five of those classes gave out home work, you could have up to five hours of home work. No student should have that much home work. All you do is burn out the students.
My 15-year-old has 4 pretty easy classes (mass media, adv. art, CAD & health), and 4 pretty hard (honors eng., algebra, chem., & spanish II). They have an alternating shedule where they go to 4 classes one day, 4 the next. (Weird, IMHO.) He has all four easy (no homework) classes one day, the other four the next. So every other day, he has about 4-5 hours of homework. He’s found out that since he only has those classes every other day, he can spread it out, but I still think it’s alot of homework! And he’s usually stressed out by the time he gets home on those hard days. Too bad they couldn’t have split them up a little, like my 16-year-old’s classes…
I think kids have MUCH more homework than we ever did.

I had that in high school, except for freshman year. We had A day and B day, and 1st, 2nd, and 4th were different each day, but 3rd period was the same everyday (and it was shorter, also because we had lunch at some point during 3rd period).
I liked the block scheduling my freshman year, though. It was semester block, so I had 4 classes my first semester, then after exams at the end of January (which was weird, but oh well), those classes were done, and I took 4 different classes 2nd semester. It was great, because you only had to worry about 4 classes at one time.
Unfortunately, they changed it because of Virginia SOLs (Standards of Learning). Our school didn’t have great scores, so they thought changing the schedule would fix it. I admit, the A Day/B day thing was a lot better than if we had 7 classes a day. But still… the semester block scheduling was best.

aha! i agree with you there! now they are talking about getting rid of hw all together and im sittin here like, “NO FAIR! we had to do it, so they should too!” lol. i dont mind SOME homework really, and its not just hw that keeps me busy… its work and church and papers and end of the year rush and stuff.
i have a weird schedule since im doing college and high school. we dont do block sheduling at my h.s. and im glad. i dont think i would like it very much. but i dont have to go into school until 11 because of my college classes every tues/thurs. morning. and one of those is the class that i am writing this paper for. and yes, im gonna be up late again tonight....
