I had an exciting morning!  I got to take my friend Arlene to the hospital to have her first baby.  She and her husband are very dear to me.  I got to help choreograph the first dance at their wedding last year and we three pack up our photography equipment and truck off together to photograph every Ginny Owens and George Rowe concert in a hundred mile radius.  LOL  Arlene is also the one person I will listen to when she tells me that I am overcommitting myself.  She sees me 9 1/2 hours a day, every day so she knows when I’m looking like this:

Anyway, if you could pray that Baby Jake would arrive safe and healthy, I’d be so grateful.

Thanks!

This friend homeschools her children and is involved with other families in the community.  One of those families’ lives were forever changed late last night.  The Garvey family.  Mom, Dad and 10 children heading to Disney World for Christmas.  They were involved in a terrible car accident yesterday just outside Jacksonville, FL.  Some were ejected from the vehicle.  Their 1 month old baby was killed, another child is awaiting surgery to repair a lacerated kidney and yet another may lose an arm due to crush injuries.  They have not been able to even tell the other children about their lost sibling as yet.  Their only vehicle was totaled and they are far from home with many details to handle.  The praise is that all the family members are in the same hospital.  Mom and Dad were treated and released.

I’ve heard about this family on every homeschool board I’m a part of, but I had no idea how bad it was.  So sad.

Praying.

Remember to pray especially for the mom.  She was the driver at the time of the accident.

Nancy, I’ve been praying for your nephews that lost their friend...how are they doing?  How is Jena’s family?  Also, you mentioned your hand.  I was having numbness and tingling in my right hand for the last few months.  (That’s how I found the lump...I was massaging my arm all the way up because the tingling had moved up into my underarm that day.) My doctor sent me for an EMG (some sort of nerve test) and told me it looks like I’m developing carpal tunnel syndrome.  She told me to buy a wrist splint to sleep in and after about 4 days, I had no more numbness or tingling.  Is that the kind of brace you’re talking about?

Thomas, how is your dad doing?

KaRisten...any news on your friend?

Cali Amy, how is your ankle feeling?

I been wondering as I’ve praying, so I thought I’d ask for an update.  Anyone else have any updates?

Cristy, thanks for praying for my nephews and Jena’s family. Everybody’s hanging in there. I got to spend some time on IM with the guys and they were hurting.  But the fact that they were willing to share about their feelings was apparently unusual.  Maybe far away aunties are easier to talk to?  I’m not going to be able to see them at Christmas this year. :(

My hand thing is supposedly tendonitis/a sprain.  Don’t know how I did it or how I redid it.  I just used a thumb immobalizing brace I got at the drugstore and after about five days, no more pain. Wish I’d done that back in September when things first went haywire.  I’m praying your carpal tunnel situation doesn’t get any worse. I’m really, really grateful not to have to deal with that.  It must be scary to have numbness like that and not be sure at first what it is.

Praying for everybody!

Pray for Stephan.  He’s over in Iraq right now.  Keep him and the 82nd Airborne Chorus in your prayers as they perform concerts for the troops over there.  I’m not sure when they’re coming back, but pray for a safe return.

Also, continue to pray for me as I look for a job.  I just applied for a government job, as a publications officer (an editorial type job) last week.  I don’t know if I’ll hear from them or not, but it’d be a great experience, and it’d be serving my country as well.  If I got it, I’d be up in DC, which means I’d be living near my brother and sister-in-law, as well as my grandma and a couple of uncles.  I could even get an apartment in the same complex as my brother smile

While the DC area is not my ideal place, it’d be a great place to start off for a career, and I already know people up there (and you’re up there too, Nancy!) So I’m looking for jobs in that area… as well as the area I’m in now, since I like southern Virginia too.  But who knows, maybe I’ll end up somewhere completely different!  I wish God could give me some hints, lol.

Praying for you and Stephan right now Kristen.  To ME, new jobs are scary enough, even without having to move.  Wow!  You are one brave lady!  gulp

Sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve given an update.

To answer a couple of questions :

Nancy, I do know he believes in God but I doubt that he’s made that full commitment and surrender. If he had, he would believe God can help him get through it.

Update: (he did move to springfield for awhile and had to quit his job. But after a couple of weeks, he moved back and he’s been staying with his stepdad).  Just recently, he got his old job back and started school again for 2nd semester.  I’m happy with this because now he’s got something to keep his mind busy.  Just when he has a bad day though, he drinks....  So yeah I’ve just kept on praying for him and talking to him.  I got to see him last night when I went into the gas station where he works.  He wears hats now because he’s kind of losing his hair from stress.

I was curious on if you really CAN lose your hair if you’re stressed?  Does anyone know?
