Right now, Ken is in New Orleans and one of the guys, Chris, a 21-year-old, fell through a roof they were repairing yesterday afternoon. He fell 16 feet to a concrete floor below, and broke his tailbone. He’s in the hospital now and his parents were due to arrive at midnight last night, our pastor was going to stay at the hospital with him atleast until they arrived. Other than the broken tailbone, I don’t have any other details as to the extent of his injuries, or prognosis. I was told he has no insurance as he is a full-time student...unclear on all the details now though. Please keep Chris in your prayers, and please pray for the rest of the guys that are there.
UPDATE: Just talked to Ken and apparently Chris broke both wrists also. Our pastor spoke with one of the doctors at the hospital about his lack of insurance and the doctor told him that he had spoken to Chris about what he was doing in New Orleans and told him “Chris won’t have to worry about a cent.” Praise God!
I am praying for these situations. God is in control, but it is so hard for us mere mortals to let that knowledge be enough to sustain us at times.
One of Alex’s good friends was present at the YWAM compound in Colorado when the shooting occurred this weekend. He was not injured but did spend the night at the police station and was unable to contact his parents until Sunday morning to even tell them he was OK! This has deeply affected all those there as you can imagine. Please keep Garth and his fellow mission students in your prayers.
Thank you so much for praying. My friend’s dad is not improving so they’re thinking of doing a tracheotomy the day after tomorrow. My friend is feeling the prayers, you guys. And they really need them.
Beth, I’m praying for Garth. This sure has been a year for Alex to trust God with his friends.
Dear friends of mine were at New Life during the shooting and one of their children is suffering from post traumatic stress as a result. Would sure appreciate prayer for them.
My friend’s dad is starting to do better! He now has a tracheostomy and a feeding tube and they’re beginning to wean him off the respirator. Thank you for continuing to pray. He’s got such a long way to go and there’s no guarantee he’ll recover, but it’s SO encouraging to start getting good reports from the home front. I hope I’ll be able to see Pop on Christmas Eve.
You know what, it’s so cool to come here and see these three phrases appear: 1st person “Please pray”, 2nd person(s) “I’m praying”, 1st person “Praise God!” In other words, it’s great to watch God answer each of our prayers and to have ya’ll share it here. Just my random little thought.
Please pray for my dad as he just got a hernia and needs surgery in a few days and he’s in a lot of pain right now. He was at the doctor’s for most of his and my mom’s anniversary.
Thanks
Thank you! He’s doing a bit better now. He was really miserable the other day. I just wish he would STOP LIFTING HEAVY THINGS, BENDING, AND WORKING like he was told by his doctor!
My nephew John began his first round of 100% strength chemo today. Yesterday he had some type of iron infusion and had a very bad reaction to it. He’s OK now, but it really scared him. He has lost a great deal of weight as well. He’s hoping to go back to work half days while he’s doing the therapy. He has not had the ostomy reversal yet, but the doctor is concerned that the cancer is ravaging too quickly to wait. Please keep him in your prayers. His blog isn’t always a ‘true’ picture of what he’s really feeling and experiencing.
Also, my three year old nephew, Ben, is having surgery tomorrow morning to put tubes in his ears and have his adenoids removed. Please pray for quick healing and no more ear infections.
Beth, I have been following along on John’s blog and I’ve been praying all along. You said: “His blog isn’t always a ‘true’ picture of what he’s really feeling and experiencing.” I thought that might be the case considering he had gone several days between posts. Maybe by the time he feels well enough to post, he just wants to forget about the bad days. My grandmother and Justin both had cancer and I can remember how the chemo wiped them out and how nausesated they were on chemo days.
I’ll continue to pray for John and your family, including your little nephew Ben.
I talked to my sister yesterday and she said the first round went really well. John said sleeping was a little awkward at first but he figured it out. Praise GOD! I haven’t heard about Ben yet, but I’m sure he’s fine or Kris would’ve called me.
