I’ve asked kat to make a couple changes to the board you might notice:

1. That “notify me via e-mail when someone posts in this thread” box you see when writing a post will be changed to NOT CHECKED by default.  Same thing for that little button in the comment area of the blogs.

this may have been addressed already…

is there a way to click maybe the “hot topic” button and be taken to the first post that you have yet to see?  i know there’s the “last post by suchandsuch” but that takes you directly to that person’s post (the last one).  any way to make a button that will take you to the oldest new post?

I don’t know if that’s possible, Robyn. I’ll have to look into it. But honestly, if you really want to stay on top of things as easily as possible, you might consider just subscribing to the RSS feed for the blog. It’s the little orange button at the bottom of the page. You can subscribe to the forums as a whole by clicking the icon on the main forum page or you can subscribe to each individual forum. It won’t show all the replies, but if there is a thread you’re interested in, you’ll likely just subscribe to the email notification for that thread anyway.

The cool thing about the RSS feed is that you can use a feedreader program to see if there’s anything new on the forums OR on any of Shaun’s blogs (or any of the other blogs you read).

Here’s a simple intro to RSS feeds for those who aren’t familiar with them.

I really like the new look of the boards!! I like the “fast reply”, too. Very neat!!! :-D

Regarding item 1:

Let me clarify that each USER needs to change their preference regarding the email notification.
1. Just click on the link at the top that says “YOUR CONTROL PANEL”
2. Click “EMAIL SETTINGS”
3. Uncheck “ Enable email notifications by default when you post messages”

haha, see, this is what happens when i dont get enough sleep… i miss things.  lol.  anyway, i am going now to change that option. 

by the way, thanks kat and shaun for working so hard on these boards for us!  you guys are awesome!
