So what sets Christianity a part from other religions? It’s the fact that we have a Trinity in our religion. One God that is 3 persons but isn’t separate from Himself. What’s wrong with this picture? Maybe the fact that we call these three separate beings people. What’s a person? Define what a person is and then try and stick that in the Trinity, does it work? What’s your take on the Trinity how does it work? How would you define it?

First off, I would say that what sets christianity apart would be the fact that we have a God that came to earth to die for us and is now alive.

When it comes to the trinity, I read something that broke it down into a wicked simple form, the concept of water was used. Water can be in three forms. At room temperature it is liquid, when you freeze it, it becomes a solid, when you heat it, it becomes vapours. They are all water, but three seperate forms of it.

So? There are religions that believe in Jesus. There are religions where “God” has sent someone to redeem them i.e. the Mormons/John Smith. But Christianity is the only religion that actually has 1 nature and 3 persons.

Also the illustration of water doesn’t really work entirely. Here’s why: You have water but let’s say that the water you have is in a glass and it’s a liquid you want to make it a solid so you put it in the freezer it’s now a solid and no longer a liquid so then you decide to turn it into a gas and you boil it now it’s a gas and therefore you are saying that God exists but He exists in 3 modes at different times. Thus the water thing doesn’t work. I used to think the Trinity was simple to explain and used the water illustration or the man illustration where you have a man and he is a son, a brother, and a father. And both illustrations don’t work because they are using the heresy of Modalism which states that God exists in 3 modes (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) at different times.
