Yay!  Let’s talk about our fave bands and artists that we think are the coolest and want to talk about but can’t start a whole thread about each one so we can just come here and be happy!!

So what are we waiting for??

I’ll begin with Sanctus Real and Leeland.
They are two of my all-time favoritest bands, and get this:  They are both supposed to be at Night of Joy in Orlando this year, both on the same night, and even better, the same night my youth group is planning to go to it!!!!  AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!

Your turn.

Lately, Future of Forestry, downhere and Jars of Clay are my top 3 favorites (Leeland & Sanctus Real are probably 4 and 5).  As for top 10 all-time favorites my list is:
1)Shaun Groves
2)Matt Redman
3)downhere
4)Jars of Clay
5)Mercy Me
6)Newsboys
7)Jeremy Camp
8)dc Talk
9)Third Day
10)Casting Crowns

Tough list, I had to leave out Todd Agnew, Delirious and David Crowder, but they are also right there for me.

Hmmm…

Bandwise I like Alathea, Enter the Haggis, Relient K, Switchfoot, Taylor Sorensen and the Trigger Code and from the good old days of CCM, I still love Mylon LeFevre and Broken Heart.

Favorite voices belong to George Rowe, Rick Elias and Taylor Sorensen.  Those guys could open up a phone book and start singing the names to me and I would be happy.

what’s up with Alathea and George Rowe these days?

I love Christy Nockels, Andrew Peterson, Shaun Groves, uh, and some not Christian stuff like Counting Crows and Sarah McLachlan.

George and Alathea are both indie.  G tours around the country at big churches and did a beautiful series of performances for Christmas last year. http://www.myspace.com/georgerowe

And Alathea just came out with a fantastic new CD called “My Groots Go Deeper.” It’s their best one yet--a new level of sophistication. You have to check out their Myspace and sample the songs!  http://www.myspace.com/alatheamusic .  It’s just Mandee and Cristi now; Carrie left the group about a year ago, after she got married and moved to Nashville.  Mandee and Cristi are still in Unicoi, TN.  The big goal is to get them on A Prairie Home Companion.  I told them when they get booked, I’ll go up with them to St. Paul to cheer my head off.  grin

Nancy,

Did you catch the “Rock the Boat” concert on TBN the other night?  I recorded it.  It was awesome.  Reliant K, Switchfoot, Jeremy Camp.  Great show.

Aw, I don’t get TBN on my cable. The cable system is leeching away one station at a time and moving them to the digital tier.  As long as I still have my Bravo and A&E though, I won’t upgrade.

4)Amy Lee
5)Christy Nockels

15)Anna Nalick

Again, tough list.  Jaci Velasquez, Dido, Faith Hill, Natalie Imbruglia and LeAnn Rimes are also right there for me.

Ooh, it would be hard for me to choose favorite vocalists.  I’ll just list them randomly:

guys--

Matt Hammitt (sanctus real)
Kevin Max
Nate Sallie
Shaun Groves
Jeremy Camp
Phil Collins (I don’t actually listen to his music, I’ve just heard him singing on the Tarzan movies tongue laugh )

gals--

Nicole Nordeman
Tricia [?] and Melissa (superchick)
Rachael Lampa
Cricket (my youth worship leader; she’s got a pretty voice)

I’m sure there’s more.  But I’m not gonna name any more for now.

Anyone here fans of Mutemath?  They’ve got some pretty cool music.  You should see their latest music video “Typical.” It’s the most unique video I think I’ve ever seen.
It’s like, they were filmed singing and playing everything backwards, then the video was made to play backwards so that it looked like everything was going forwards except the things they look like they’re doing are physically impossible to do unless your tape was being played backwards!!!

In short, it’s a very creative video that you’re likely to enjoy even if you aren’t into that type of music.

Marc whats-his-face from Downhere has a very musical voice that’s pleasant to listen to.

Jason Gray has a rather nice voice, in a different way.  Anyone else like the song “Blessed Be?” It’s so sweet.
