I missed being here with everybody yesterday! I’ve been in Miami for the last week and was on top of a 30 story building shooting a tv commercial when the show was on--the internet reception was not so good up there.
This program will run again next week as Charley and I are busy pillaging Nashville.
Smiley, I come up with topic ideas in different ways--if friends are experiencing challenging situations, I may base a program on that topic to encourage them. It may be a topic or issue I’m dealing with myself. Or sometimes a song or sermon or event in the news will make me think of a topic. I pray a lot, asking God to help me pick a topic that will be meaningful to people listening and to help me put together the right songs for the topic.
Once I pick a topic, I have to find 14-16 songs that go with it. As I’m researching songs, I come up with an outline of the ideas surrounding the topic that I want to cover and group the songs and write the “breaks” when I talk between songs so each block of two to four songs that you hear and what I say before and after each block of songs flow into each other.
It takes at least five hours of research and production and prayer for every hour of True Story Radio that you hear.
