I can’t seem to escape the song “Everlasting God”, written by Brenton Brown (my favorite version is by him).  We are singing it at my church now and at my small group and both Chris Tomlin and Lincoln Brewster have covered the song as well.  It kind of fits Shaun’s definition of a “happy song” which is probably why there are 3 versions of it out at the same time.  Good song though.

I love the song “All I Want” by Future of Forestry.  I’ve listened to it about 20 times in the last few weeks and it’s an amazing song.  The group used to be Something Like Silas and their CD “Twilight” is fantastic, definitely in my top 10 of 2007.

“Oh My God” by Jars of Clay

Thomas

I’m seeing Jars of Clay again on 8/3 and I keep listening to this song “Oh My God” over and over.  Amazing song and I love how it builds up to that last part (very worshipful) and it is becoming my favorite song on “Good Monsters”, along with “There Is A River” and “Work”.

I got Good Monsters for my sister for Christmas last year.  I haven’t listened to it much.  However, I would like to, and might borrow it from her sometimes.  I like “Work” and “Dead Man”.

My favorite songs lately are:

“Illusion” --Wilderness of Tekoa
“Waste of Time” --FM Static
“Shine On [?]” --Needtobreathe
“The Show” & “Deeds” --Sanctus Real (I just recently got the album Fight the Tide.  These songs are new to me.)
“Forgive Yourself”—Downhere (plus other various songs from my Downhere album that I got the same day.)
So on and so forth.

Mary Ann, I’m right there with you on “Shine On”.  I really like Needtobreathe’s style.  If you haven’t checked out DecembeRadio, listen to “Drifter” and “Least of These” as well.  Cool stuff!

I’ve heard “Drifter” a bunch of times on the radio, and I like it, but I don’t know if I would go out of my way to buy an album from them.  But you never know.  Sometimes I’ll hear a song on the radio and think it’s really wierd, then after a few listens it becomes one of my favorite songs.  Hehheh, I used to think Leeland was wierd!  Now they’re my second favorite band!

Song of the moment:  None in particular.  Unless I think of one sometime in the next few minutes.

"The Blessing” by John Waller and “Stand In Awe” by Jeremy Riddle.  Amazing worship songs that really show a heart for God.

"Reach” is a great song.  Regarding DecembeRadio, if you like “Drifter” you probably would like all of the songs.  “Love Found Me” and “Least of These” are my 2 other favorites on the CD.

My song of the moment is “The Altar and the Door” by Casting Crowns.  I got an advance download of the title song from the new release by the same name coming out on 8/28 and it is already my favorite Casting Crowns song.  I am amazed by Mark Hall’s songwriting and singing and I highly recommend this album.  Again, not a “happy” song, actually very challenging.

I love music, but I can get tired of hearing the same song over and over pretty easily, so I listen to my favorite music sparingly.  But there is one particular song by my all-time favorite band that I’ve heard a million times in the past couple years, and I’m still not tired of it.  I can remember once listening to it like twenty times in a row at least!  I think it is the one song in the world that truly is PERFECT.  It’s:

Speaking In Tongues--The Elms

The music and melody in that song is AWESOME, and the lyrics and vocals are also really good.  I’ll post the lyrics in the lyrics thread.
As for the rest of their songs:  Ditto^^ cool smile

I agree, an excellent song!

Has anyone else heard “Let Go” by a new band called Grey Holiday or something like that?  I thought it was Needtobreathe at first because it sounded so much like them (that is, it sounds good)!  Anyhoo, it’s one of my faves on the radio right now.
