Wonderful for our family!  I’m still on vacation...gotta love that!  Dad (also on vacation) and I ran some errands this morning then met Mom (not on vacation) for lunch.

Christmas was nice, and we got to spend quality time with alot of the family in and out of town.  We spent New Years Eve at home with the kids playing Wii...spent New Years Day trying to figure out why I was so sore.  I then realized I exercised more playing Wii than I have in several weeks!  red face

It’s been nice not having to go to work, and not having to go anywhere else either.

How was yours?

The Wii workout!  You should make a Wii exercise video for moms.

I spent Christmas in NJ with my mom and best girlfriends and older goddaughter, bounced back to DC for a couple days and saw some friends and my older sister in law’s family as they drove thru. Then I headed to Raleigh to see my parents in law and younger sister in law’s family for a few days. I’m beat but boy, was it a good week.

I still have two more post-holiday get togethers to host and I never got my cards out and have been hearing from people around the country wondering what happened and am I still alive. LOL  Guess I’ll do some New Year’s letters this weekend.

What did everybody else do?  Beth? Thomas? Amy and Amy?  Kristen, Kristen and Kristen?  Shaun? Mary Ann?  Charley? Euphrony? Lisa?  Lois?  Robyn? Kevin?  Who did I miss?

Everybody must still be on vaykay.  LOL

My sister and her family came from Costa Rica.  Sooo…

we went to Disneyland, the San Diego zoo, the beach, and did tons of shopping.  I also played a lot of Hide and Seek, ate lots of good food, and just generally had a nice time.  My nieces are very cute and since I’m the single aunt, I can spoil them with lots of attention and little toys!

That sounds like fun!  What brought your sis and her family to Costa Rica? How long a flight is that anyway?

Being the not married aunt has major advantages. You’re allowed to play and not act like a grownup. You’re someone the kids can confide in because, since you are single, you are thought to be endlessly cooler than mom and dad.  And--best advantage I know of--everyone thinks you are perpetually younger. My nieces and nephews and little cousins all think I’m younger than their parents.  I’m not. Some, I’m 10 years older than. But the fact that I play with them and don’t have kids of my own, makes me seeeeeeeeeeeeem younger.  So shhhhhh. Don’t tell them I’m not 25.  LOL

Hi Nancy, I’m back and more importantly so is Shaun and he’s writing some great new songs it seems which is awesome.  My Christmas was wonderful as we have 3 daughters, 8, 4 and 1 1/2.  They love American Girl and Bitty Baby so I’ve become very adept at dressing and changing dolls and most importantly being with my family.  My oldest turns 8 today and we just got back from NYC for the weekend where my wife and I took just her to American Girl Place for the weekend and also went ice skating at Rockefeller Center, up to the 70th floor observation deck where we could see the entire city and took her to Mary Poppins on Broadway yesterday and it was all very amazing.  We plan to give each of the 3 girls that same experience when they turn 8.

I hope your holidays were special and Happy New Year!

Kevin, you are one cool daddy!  Not many guys would do the whole American Girl-ice skating-Mary Poppins thing. Your girls are going to have such wonderful memories of the thing you did with them.  grin

Did you take pictures of the big adventure?  Love to see them.

Nancy, my wife said “you were meant to be the Daddy of little girls” because I get so excited by the same things they love.  My mom got me hooked on musicals as a young boy and I actually welled up several times at Mary Poppins (especially “Feed The Birds") and also at the American Girl musical “Circle of Friends”.  I’d love to see Shaun in a musical now that I think about it.  He could totally play Bert in Mary Poppins.  Can’t you see him singing “It’s a Jolly Holiday with Mary”?  Just kidding.

Yes, I should be able to get some pictures, but that’s my wife’s area so I’ll have to ask her to send me some.

Take care,
Kevin

Hmmm, I dunno about Shaun in a musical like Mary Poppins. Trying to picture him in a straw hat, cane and striped jacket earnestly hoofing it around the stage.  LOL

A rock opera though, definitely.  grin

Nancy, my brother-in-law is half Costa Rican and grew up down there.  He is the administrator at a Torchbearers school in San Jose. My sister is raising the little ones. smile
