I wanted to share with all of the writer types who hang around here that there are writing and media relations course opportunities at http://www.mediabistro.com .  Most are in LA or NYC but many are online.

Cali Amy, this one has your name all over it:  a one night only chick lit writing workshop in Hollywood.  Cut out of work early that day, and treat yourself to a class!

What’s everybody been writing lately? Those of you who blog and who write other things too, do you find that blogging makes your other writing easier or harder to do?

Nancy, are you saying I need to learn how to write?  I guess that you have read my blog. LOL

Writing is never easy.  It does not matter if I am writing a simple post, to post on a board, or writing for my blog.  I am hardly able to get what going on in my mind down on paper.  It is not uncommon for me to spend up an hour working on a two paragraph post for my blog.

I take the blame for my problems with writing.  I did not take my classes seriously when I was growing up.  It was not uncommon for me to stare out the window daydreaming while the teacher was teaching.  It was because of the lack of wanting to be in school that I was tracked into the basic classes that would allow me to get a job as a general laborer.  (Tracking in school is where the school counselors would decided if you have the ability to go to college.  If they believed that you had the ability to go to college, they would put you into classes that would prepare you for college.  If they thought you did not have the ability to go to college ,you would be put into classes that would prepare you for a general labor type of job. School districts stopped this sort of student tracking during the late seventies and early eighties)

No, I’m not making any comments about anybody’s writing.  I’m constantly reading about and taking classes about things I like to do, like writing, and thought others might like to do that too.

Nancy, I guess my attempt at humor at the beginning of my last post bombed.  red face  I knew that you were not telling me or anybody else that they needed to improve their writing.

Sorry Nancy.

I think I finally got an ending to a story that turned out to be a LOT longer than I wanted it to be. Like over 25 chapters longer than I wanted it to be. Blogging is starting to get back up since I’ve started school. I’ve already got another plot for another story bouncing around in my head only it’ll be a dark fiction about a girl who is said to have commited suicide but was really murdered.

I’m with ya there, Thomas!

I should get a blog.  But I don’t think anyone would read it.

Absolutely.  Go for it, Mary Ann.  I subscribe to everybody’s RSS feeds and read ‘em all at once.

I am finally blogging too.  For work…

Amy, thank you for all of your encouragement about the writing.  It means so much to me.  One of these days sistah, there’s gonna be a book or two or…

LOL

The work blog has been challenging to get up and running.  Bureaucrats can be worrywarts and fussbudgets when you try to do anything new, but they are well-meaning (they also Google my name so they are probably reading this. wink )

Our “official” public launch of the blog is on Thursday.  I’ll post the url here so you can take a peek. It hasn’t been released to the search engines yet so googling for it now will yield nada until Thursday. It’s a team blog--different person each day.  I picked Thursdays since that’s True Story day and that would be easy for me to remember.  LOL

A long time you ago you asked if blogging made other writing easier or harder to do Nancy…

I think it makes it harder because if I get fed up, I just think...oh I’ll just go blog...great procrastination!
