I was just curious about how many people read for pleasure and how often you read. Do you enjoy reading? Do you, like Shaun, prefer non-fiction or do you like fiction only?
I absolutely love to read and am always reading something.
i read all the time. i currently have a book laying page down on the desk next to me, right where i left off. bad for the book i know. i’ll put my bookmark in it. but um, i LOVE reading for pleasure. i do not like reading for school. i love christian ficition… like frank peretti or janette oke or lori wick (altho thats starting to get a little sappy). stuff like that though.
I don’t read for pleasure as much as I’d like, because of all the reading I have to do for classes! Hopefully when I graduate (exactly three months from tomorrow, ahh) I’ll have more time to read for pleasure
Seriously, when I do read it is in cycles. There are times I just need to read and there are times I do not want to read. When I do read, it is a mixture of stuff. Right now I am rereading The Resurrection File by Craig Parshall. I have read the first chapter of In the Name of Jesus by Henri J. M. Nouwen. I am holding off reading anymore until I hear back from my small group. We might use this as our next book for our small group study.
Ohh yes reading for pleasure one of my favorite things to do. Lately it’s been text books for early church history, and a lot of books written about teens for my youth cultures & issues class (AWESOME class by the way) The books for that class...wow it’s like “YES! I so felt that way in high school!”

um, ive read one… something about heaven… heavens wager maybe? it was interesting. and i read house. by frank peretti and ted dekker. but im not a humongous fan of his. i like peretti’s stuff better.
I love to read, and have for as long as I can remember. I’m always in the middle of several books, some fiction, some not, some academic. Of all the books I’m reading right now, I would recommend “Decision Making and the Will of God” by Gary Friesen and “Brothers, We Are Not Professionals” by John Piper. They are fantastic books.

oh, i think he’s gotten better since those heaven books! I just House a few weeks ago! I really loved the Circle trilogy.
house was ok.... but i could tell it was written by both of them and there was one or two places where it looked like the editor missed something. i liked it, but its not one of my favorites.
It wasn’t one of my favorites either. OK, but sometimes confusing to follow. I LOVED “Obsession” though, and “Thr3e” is absolutely awesome. That one has a totally surprise ending. I’ve preordered the dvd of it that comes out on 4/3. The movie didn’t make it to the theatres here. I wish they’d make a movie based on “Obsession” too.
oh.. speaking of movies made out of good books. if you like peretti and you like the visitation, DO NOT see the movie they made out of it. completely wrong! theres probably about 20% that follows the book; the rest of it was changed. way not cool.
but visitation is definitely one of my favs by peretti! i am currently reading the prophet (peretti) and i love this one too. geez, id love to get inside his mind someday!

I went to see Three during our short cold time and the heater in the theater was broken! I was shivering through the whole thing! I liked Obession, too!
I don’t get to read as much as I’d like to these days, but I do enjoy Christian fiction, as well as non-fiction. Right now, I’ve just started a new book by Beth Moore called “Get Out of That Pit.” I love her writing and her style. She’s an awesome teacher. I’m also reading a book on Christian history. Haven’t gotten too far into it yet though.
Beth, on Saturday, a bunch of us girls from church went to a Beth Moore conference based on that book. Actually, Beth Moore was in Tyler, TX and we watched via satellite along with 150,000 other women across the US. I’d never heard of her before that, but I truly enjoyed the conference.
