I thought it would be nice if we each made a list of the top three (3) songs that God has used to minister to us the most. (If you absolutely can’t decide on three, more or less is accepted ;^)).

In no particular order, here’s my decided three…

“You’re Glowing” The Elms
This song has really helped me through my teen years, as many times I have wanted to run away, yet I couldn’t, so this was (and still is) a song of hope for me.

“Shine On” Needtobreathe
Wow, this is such an encouraging song for many reasons. I can’t explain it all, but in short this is just the song I need as I go through a spiritual crisis of sorts.

“Falling” PFR
A simple cry..."help me I’m falling down”. So powerfully sung, straight from the desperate soul, this song has somehow helped me pray through temptations and fears. A true blessing from God.

So how has the Lord spoken to you through music?

Ginny Owens has entered into the blogging world. YAY!!!! I know that she will be successful with this because she tells great stories and at time very funny jokes during her shows. I hope that you will take the time to stop by Ginny site and give a shout out.

Check out the attached article from CMSpin about “The Altar and the Door” by Casting Crowns. The last time I remember this much buzz about a new Christian album placing this high on Billboard’s Top 200 chart (#2 in the 1st week with 129,000 copies sold, behind only High School Musical 2) was in 1998 with “Supernatural” by dcTalk. Good for Casting Crowns. They deserve this type of exposure and who knows, maybe music fanatics like me who see this album ranked #2 in the top 200 will check them out and get to know our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This album is a great testimony for Christians and seekers alike. What do you all think? Shaun?

Shaun, in a comment on Insiders Look: Part 5 asked “What other not happy songs have helped you, inspired you, made you think, rescued you?” I think this is a good board topic, so hear we go. I listed a few in the comments for the post:

Sara Groves’ “Maybe There’s a Loving God” and “Like a Skin”
Todd Agnew’s “Wait for Your Rain”
Steve Camp’s “He Covers Me”

Here are a couple more:

Bruce Carroll’s “Sometimes Miracles Hide”
Great story about fighting through the trial of a expecting and raising a child that is not perfect. Patience will help us find God’s miracles.

David Meece’s “My Father’s Chair”
The song goes from hopelessness in a child longing for his father, to the child grown up loving his kids, to him dreaming of meeting our Father. Hearing David Meece tell the story of his father, a drunk who was abusive and often absent, is a powerful testimony to the love he finds in his true Father. Despite the struggles and trials. Listening to this continues to encourage me to be a better father to my two kids, and a better husband to my wife.

Ray Boltz’s “The Anchor Holds
The second verse and chorus were written by a friend of his who was struggling with repeated miscarriages in the late stages of pregnancy, the loss he felt as each child was taken from he and his wife but the strength they found anchored in God. This one is especially touching to me, as I watched my brother and sister-in-law carry a child to full term, knowing full well she had little chance of surviving more than a few hours after birth. We all held this little girl, cried, and knew that God was still there. Not a happy time, but strong; this song encouraged me to remain anchored.
